The Washington State Cougars are a college football team that represents Washington State University (WSU) in the NCAA's Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.   1. Drew Bledsoe Drew Bledsoe is widely regarded as one of the best players in the history of the Washington State Cougars. He played quarterback for the team from 1990 to 1992 and was a prolific passer who set numerous school and conference records. During his time with the Cougars, Bledsoe threw for 7,373 yards and 46 touchdowns.

Bledsoe was a consensus All-American in 1992 and finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting that year. He went on to have a successful career in the NFL, where he played for 14 seasons and earned four Pro Bowl selections.

  1. Jason Hanson Jason Hanson played placekicker for the Washington State Cougars from 1988 to 1991 and was one of the most accurate kickers in the history of the program. He set several school and conference records for field goals made and points scored. During his time with the Cougars, Hanson made 63 field goals and scored 328 points.

Hanson was a two-time All-American and won the Lou Groza Award as the best kicker in college football in 1991. He went on to have a long and successful career in the NFL, where he played for 21 seasons and earned two Pro Bowl selections.

  1. Mike Utley Mike Utley played offensive guard for the Washington State Cougars from 1985 to 1988 and was one of the most dominant linemen in the history of the program. He was a powerful blocker who helped pave the way for the Cougars' running game. During his time with the Cougars, Utley was a two-time All-Pac-10 selection.

Utley went on to have a successful career in the NFL, where he played for five seasons with the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, his career was cut short when he suffered a spinal cord injury during a game in 1991 that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Since then, Utley has become an advocate for spinal cord injury research and has established the Mike Utley Foundation to support those with similar injuries.

  1. Ryan Leaf Ryan Leaf played quarterback for the Washington State Cougars from 1995 to 1997 and was one of the most talented passers in the history of the program. He set numerous school records for passing yards and touchdowns and led the Cougars to the Rose Bowl in 1998. During his time with the Cougars, Leaf threw for 7,433 yards and 59 touchdowns.

Leaf was a consensus All-American and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1997. He went on to have a brief and tumultuous career in the NFL, where he struggled with injuries and off-the-field issues.

  1. Marcus Trufant Marcus Trufant played cornerback for the Washington State Cougars from 1999 to 2002 and was one of the best defensive players in the history of the program. He was a shutdown corner who could lock down the opposing team's top receiver. During his time with the Cougars, Trufant recorded eight interceptions and 200 tackles.

Trufant was a first-team All-Pac-10 selection in both 2001 and 2002 and was a consensus All-American in 2002.
